CHILDREN'S HOME

21st Annual BBQ Cook-Off Festival
Bring Your Best Home

May 16 & 17, 2008

Mark May 16th and 17th on your calendar as the tastiest days in Columbia!

Join Carolina
Children's Home for our 21st Annual BBQ Cook-off Festival at the SC State Fairgrounds. Presented by Big Pig sponsor AdDrive, this two-day fundraiser pits cookers from all over the state of South Carolina against each other to see who can create the best tasting BBQ. All the proceeds from the event benefit Carolina Children's Home and the many children we serves. Originally founded as an orphanage, the Home is one of the state's largest treatment centers for abused or abandoned young people.

7 pm - 10 pm -- Friday Night's SAVE THE PIGS party is an anything put pork event!  For $8 a ticket or 2 for $15, enjoy music and taste-test samples of numerous Southern specialties prepared by the 40+ cooking teams from across the region. Food samples are served as long as the delicious dishes last and the terrific band, the Sensational Epics, will play from 7-10 p.m.  Beer, water and sodas are for sale at the event.

11 am - 3 pm -- Saturday's BBQ COOK-OFF
Join many as all reap the benefits of this year's BBQ champions and more.  Complete with BBQ and savory side items, BBQ plates are $8 at the door or $7 if purchased in advance and kids 11 years of age and younger eat for $3.  Enjoy performances by local children's groups, let the kids enjoy crafts in the Little Piggies area and enjoy savory food for all.  We even have a drive through for those of you who can't stay for the festivities.  And you can purchase BBQ by the pound to go for $8 a pound, too.  It's a day of delicious food and fun for the whole family!

The 2007 BBQ Festival attracted approximately 2,000 guests and raised approximately $65,000 in net proceeds to benefit the hundreds of children and adolescents who enter the Homes doors each year!

To become an event sponsor, compete as a cook, purchase advance tickets for either event, or volunteer your time, please call
