The Home is very dependent on the continued generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations to assist in its worthy mission of helping needy children, as well as on the success of annual fundraising events.

Since the majority of the children in the Home’s care are in the custody of the state, Carolina Children’s Home does receive some reimbursement for the care of each child.  Based on the 2009 fiscal year’s audit, this amount averages to 67.8 percent of the necessary costs to provide services and programs to each resident. 

In recent years the Home’s operating costs have increased for a variety of reasons, such as rising costs of food, rising costs of repair and maintenance to cottages that house adolescents year-round, and rising costs associated with offering competitive salaries to attract and secure qualified counselors and staff to work with the children.   

Carolina Children’s Home relies on several appeals throughout the year to help cover the ever increasing costs associated with providing services to children in need. These efforts make a great difference in raising awareness of the Home’s mission and in providing annual operating support that’s needed to serve the hundreds of children the Home helps each year.
