South Carolina's biggest and best BBQ Competition just got BETTER!
Mark May 14th and 15th on your calendar as the tastiest days in Columbia!
Join Carolina Children's Home for our 23rd Annual BBQ Cook-Off Festival at the S.C. State Fairgrounds. This two-day fundraiser pits cookers from all over the state of South Carolina against each other to see who can create the best tasting BBQ.
All proceeds from the event benefit Carolina Children's Home and the many children we serve.
Originally founded as an orphanage, today the Home is one of the largest care and treatment centers for abused or abandoned young people.
7 pm - 10 pm -- Friday Night's SAVE THE PIGS Party is an anything but pork event! For $10 a ticket, enjoy music and taste-test samples of numerous Southern specialities prepared by thy 50+ cooking teams from across the region. Food samples are served as long as the delicious dishes last and the terrific band, The Sensational Epics, will play from 7-10 pm. Beer, water and sodas are for sale at the event.
11 pm - 3 pm -- Saturday's BBQ COOK-OFF Festival
NEW THIS YEAR: Sample the 50 varieties of BBQ from the 50 cooking teams competing in this year's competition! For $10 a ticket, enjoy live music and taste-test smaples of nearly 50 different varieties of BBQ! BBQ and smoked chicken samples are served as long as the pork and chicken last and the band will play from 11 am until 3 pm. While attending the festival enjoy boiled peanuts, funnel cakes, fries and Coke products (sold separately) and FREE kids activities in the Little Piggies area! And once you find a BBQ you like, purchase a pound for $5. It's a delicious day of food and fun for the whole family.
The 2009 BBQ festival attracted approximately 2,000 guests and raised more than $48,500 in net proceeds to benefit the hundreds of children and adolescents who enter the Home's doors each year.
